All the cool kids seem to be doing this at the moment, so with it being a rather gloomy Sunday, and being somewhat laden with an inconvenient cold, what better reason to be a bit self-indulgent and talk about oneself.

I was born in Nottingham and recently discovered that my maiden name actually originates from there which I found quite remarkable, but have thus far not met anyone that shares that excitement, but I found it interesting at least.

Since I was very young, I have always erred on the gothier side of life, which earned me the nickname "Morticia" throughout my school life. In some ways, it was quite ostracising and it has only been the last few years that I have started feeling comfortable with myself. I love Hallowe'en, atmospheric/ethereal music, corsets and gothic novels, but I dislike being pigeon-holed.

My taste in music is quite diverse and eclectic and I'm proud of that. I dislike limiting myself to possibly wonderful musical adventures. You can find me listening to the likes of Emilie Autumn, Beethoven, Patsy Cline, Farmer Jason, Narsilion, Kate Rusby, Apocalyptica, VAST, Epica, Technoir......the list goes ever on. I'm also a huge fan of film scores and my collection is ever increasing.

It will come as no surprise then that I'm a huge film fan and since I was about 13, my favourite film has been The Crow. I immediately fell in love with Brandon Lee's portrayal of the tragic Eric Draven. I'll give most films a go but tend to stay away from the rom-coms that are constantly being churned out.

I started out working as an admin supervisor for Wilkinsons. I was there for two years in which my conviction of never working in retail again was firmly cemented. I then moved to Birmingham and had a short stint working as an administrator for an online dating agency which was "interesting", moving on to a mostly unfulfilling 5 years at a law firm which ended in redundancy. A difficult few months ensued what with desperately trying to find another job, but ultimately, it was the best thing that could have happened. I was forced into taking the initiative and pushing myself forwards. It paid off as I have now been an Intelligence Researcher for nearly 3 years. I am looking forward to starting a course for a wedding planner diploma just as soon as I have the course fees.

At home, I live in a little house with my new husband Adam and my charming cat, Aragorn. Adam and I got engaged in February 2010 whilst staying at a lovely cottage in Norfolk with friends and it was one of the happiest and most emotional moments of my life. We first met when I was 18 and it was passionate and silly and was so intense it burned out and we went our separate ways. We got back together a few years ago and it's like Adam said; we started out on our journey together but needed to do some of it alone and now it's time for us to continue together.

Most of my thoughts and plans over the last 18 months or so have been for our wedding which took place on Monday, October 24th 2011. It was wonderful and unique and I loved every second of planning it (although I didn't completely avoid some "Bridezilla" moments).

When I'm not being sentimental about weddings, I'm probably cuddling Aragorn within an inch of his nine lives, spending time with Adam and indulging in Snoo-Snoo, or I've got my head stuck in a fantasy art book for which I am passionate. We also love spending time with our friends whether it's film and food fests, cinema trips or Hallowe'en soirées with our Selly Park extended family.

So, that's me in a nutshell (no pigeon-holes please) but hopefully you will find a lot more once you get to know me!
